The officers shall say to the army: “Has anyone built a new house and not yet begun to live in it? Let him go home, or he may die in battle and someone else may begin to live in it. Deuteronomy 20:5
During World War II the Japanese became so desperate for soldiers they drafted boys to serve in the army. God makes provisions for those who just built a house, planted a vineyard or got married to leave the army and enjoy what they had back home. Why? Because God cares for his people, but also because God doesn’t need more soldiers to win. There were times when God gave victory without any of his army going into battle. We are never desperate as God’s children. (The cross is testimony of that.) The Lord of all creation loves us more than we can ever imagine and has more resources than we will ever need. When God calls you into battle it is more for your personal growth than it is his need for you to fight. Trust HIM – and have a great day!
