Thoughts for the Day

Trade in My Life?

Posted by Pastor Jeff Heimsoth on

I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

I know what it is like to trade in a car. I always try to trade up—even though it costs me money. No one wants to trade down in value. The Christian life is kind of like that. We all have our own lives. We can make our own choices of what to eat or what to live for. God provides a different option. He says you can trust Him with your life—trade your life in for the life He would give you. St. Paul took that trade in—no hesitation. There are costs. Paul was going to Jerusalem knowing people there wanted kill him. But look at what comes with the life God gives: eternal warrantee, 24/7 service—FREE, and adventures you could never dream of on your own. This is definitely a trade UP!
Father, today I choose to take the path you have laid out for me—not my own. But it is a little scary, because I like to be in control. So hold my hand—I will follow. AMEN!
