The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14
Ahaz was king of Judah when Jerusalem was attacked by foreign armies. God assured him things would be alright—Ahaz was still scared. God told him to ask for a sign to prove that God would handle things—Ahaz refused. God WANTED the man to know he and his people were safe, but Ahaz (for some reason refused). So, God said he would provide his own sign to Ahaz—a virgin to give birth to a baby.
I don’t know how that played out, but I know this pointed to the birth of Jesus, Immanuel. That name literally means, God with us. Live today knowing that God is with you—you need not fear anything. You are not alone. God wants you to know that. He loves you that much. This is what the birth of Jesus is about—letting you know you will never be alone. And that promise of God is sealed in the blood of Jesus. Tomorrow is Epiphany, the last day of Christmas. Merry Christmas!
