Thoughts for the Day

Posted by Pastor Jeff Heimsoth on

Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations. Isaiah 9:1

It is a wonderful word, ‘nevertheless.’ In this case the last words of Isaiah 8 are, “They will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.” God paints a bleak picture for His people because of their sin, but then He says, “nevertheless.” God gives hope despite what the people deserved. He does the same for you and me. We have failed, nevertheless God still loves us. We have sinned, nevertheless, in Jesus God has declared us to be holy.
We have hope where we should only have despair, but that is only because God has changed everything. He gives us hope. Don’t ever give up—no matter what you are currently facing or what you have done in the past. Trust God and find hope.
