Thoughts for the Day

Happy New Year--8th Day of Christmas!

Posted by Pastor Jeff Heimsoth on

An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21

I know most are ready to move on from Christmas, but we are still in the Christmas season. If Jesus had been born on December 25th (almost sure he wasn’t) today would have been the day he would have officially been named. On the 8th day of his life he was circumcised and given the name, Jesus. Literally his name means Jehovah (God) saves.
Jesus lived up to his name and thus we begin the new year with hope. Jesus saved us in his death and resurrection, so 2018 and every year beyond that is going to be alright. We are safe for all of eternity. Trust Him. He will bless you with good and carry you through the difficult times. Happy New Year!!!
