“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Isaiah 6:5
What happens when God allows you to see Him in all His glory? For the first time in your life you realize that you have ALWAYS underestimated Him. Then you see yourself more clearly and, well, . . . Isaiah said it best, "Woe to me!" To see God is to see your own wretched state and that spells doom.
That did not happen to Isaiah, and it did not happen because God chose another path. Here it is seen as a live coal cauterizing Isaiah's sinfulness; we have seen it ultimately as Jesus allowing himself to take on our doom and give us his holiness. Then we, along with Isaiah, realize that God is even MORE.
Holy Father, I fall to my knees before you. I place my very being into Your hands. AMEN.
