Thoughts for the Day

Posted by Pastor Jeff Heimsoth on

Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!” Acts 20:9-10

It had to be a crazy night. Paul was teaching the people well into the night because he had to leave in the morning. Eutychus fell asleep, fell out the window (three stories) and they thought he was dead. Paul hugged the guy and declares him to be alive (miracle or just a tense moment?). Paul goes back to teaching until morning.

I don’t know what to take away from this. I am pretty sure we do not study enough of Jesus today. Explore him today, even it if means pulling yourself away from that all-important television show (sarcasm). The other is to never question the power of God. Was Eutychus miraculously raised from the dead? I would not be surprised. God has that power and He still uses it today. Expect more from the one we worship! Have a great day!
