Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher
Director of Early Childhood Ministry
I grew up in Saline back when it was a small town. The only college I wanted to attend was Concordia College in Ann Arbor and there I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. My continuing certification classes were taken at Eastern Michigan University with a concentration on reading. In 2011 I earned my MA in Early Childhood Education through Capella University in Minnesota. So much has changed in the educational field over the years!
Thanks to life situations and layoffs from downsizing, my teaching experiences have been diverse! Some people determined it to be a negative, but I find it a blessing. Exposure and experience are great teachers. I have taught grades K-8 in rural, suburban, and urban schools at private, charter, and Lutheran schools. Over the years, I have come to enjoy working with the younger students. I have been the lead teacher for preschool and pre-Kindergarten at Trinity since 2010, Early Childhood Director since 2011, and director of Early Childhood Ministry this year.
My family and I live in Belleville. We are a close-knit family and spend a lot of time together. My husband, Kevin, is a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. I have four sons and four stepchildren. My family and I are very active members at church. During my spare time, I enjoy time with extended family, crafts, reading, board games, decorating cakes, and home improvement. We have taken extended vacations to Florida, Washington State, Arkansas, and throughout Michigan.
Preschool Lead Teacher
Donita is a familiar face at Trinity. She has been a preschool assistant and child care worker here for many years. She obtained her Child Development Associate certificate in 2011 and is currently teaching 3 year old Preschool.
Donita lives in Monroe with her husband, Bob and daughter, Annalyse. The family is very involved with the ministry at Grace Lutheran, Monroe serving on many boards and in many capacities. The family is also very involved with the Monroe County 4-H program where Donita has taught classes on both the local and state level.
She is very excited to be part of the preschool program here at Trinity!
